Halma is a classic board game created in 1883 or 1884 by George Howard Monks, an American thoracic surgeon at Harvard Medical School. The game was inspired by an English pastime called hoppity.
The game requires a checkered board as playing equipment. For two-player matches, pieces are typically black and white, while four-player games use diversely colored pieces placed in opposing corners. The objective is to move all your pieces from your starting corner to the diagonally opposite corner. On each turn, players can either move a piece to an adjacent empty square or make consecutive jumps over other pieces.
