Stardew Valley DLC and Updates Forever Free, Promises Creator

The creator of Stardew Valley, Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, promised long-time fans that he would never charge money when releasing updates or DLCs.

Earlier today, Barone took to Twitter(X) to inform Stardew Valley fans about the progress of its ports and updates. Barone shared, "The ports and next pc update are still in progress. I know it is taking a long time, it's on my mind every minute. I have personally been working on the mobile port every day. I will announce when there is any meaningful news (e.g. a release date). Hope you're having a good summer."

One fan commented that people will not complain "as long as everything you add is completely free." Barone replied, "I swear on the honor of my family name, I will never charge money for a DLC or update for as long as I live." His response assured fans that all future updates or DLCs of Stardew Valley will be free of charge.

Stardew Valley is a farming simulator/RPG game that was released in 2016. Barone has consistently provided substantial updates to improve its performance and provide new and refreshing ways for fans to enjoy the game. Stardew Valley's latest 1.6.9 update includes three festivals, getting multiple pets, expanded home renovations, new outfits, late-game content, and quality of life changes.

Barone’s assurance to his fans might even extend beyond Stardew Valley, as he is also developing a new game called Haunted Chocolatier. However, there is no substantial information about this new project right now, and fans might wait for further announcements.

As the sole developer of Stardew Valley, Barone’s statement displays his respect and empathy towards the gaming community. He even stated, "Screencap this and shame me if I ever violate this oath." This assured fans that they can have new and engaging ways to play Stardew Valley without additional cost, despite being a seven-year-old game.
