Japanese Mahjong is a captivating game played with the distinctive Japanese style rules. To play, you'll use the slider located at the bottom of the screen to select your tiles. Once selected, tap the slider to discard the tile you no longer need.
The ultimate goal of Mahjong is to complete your hand with four Melds and one Pair. For example, a valid hand could look like this: [1, 2, 3][6, 6, 6][6, 7, 8][N, N, N][4, 4]. However, not all hands are valid, especially when using Chi, Pon, and Open Kan, so be mindful of these rules. Specifically, be cautious when using 1 and 9 in Chi and Pon combinations, as these can affect the validity of your hand.
In Japanese Mahjong, having at least one valid hand is essential. You can enhance your hand by declaring Reach, which costs 1,000 points, but remember that you cannot declare Reach if you have used Chi, Pon, or Open Kan. A closed hand, one that hasn't been declared with Chi, Pon, or Open Kan, can yield higher points.
Understanding the concept of a Lost Hand is crucial. A Lost Hand is one that is Waiting but cannot be won from another player's discard because you've already discarded a winning tile yourself. Even with a Lost Hand, you can still win through self-draw. The key is to never declare Ron (winning from another player's discard) with a tile you have discarded yourself. Instead, carefully analyze the discards of other players to strategize your win.
