Assassin's Creed Shadows' Release Date Shifted to March 20, 2025
Ubisoft has announced another delay for the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing its release date from February 14, 2025, to March 20, 2025. This decision follows an earlier postponement from the initial November 2024 release.
The publisher cites the need for further refinement and polishing based on player feedback as the reason for this latest delay. This contrasts with the first delay, which was attributed to internal development challenges related to historical accuracy. Ubisoft's Vice President and Executive Producer, Marc-Alexis Coté, emphasized the company's commitment to delivering a high-quality, immersive experience through ongoing player engagement. Both delays provide additional development time to enhance the game's overall quality.
Revised Release Date:
- March 20, 2025
The September 2024 delay prompted Ubisoft to offer refunds for pre-orders and promised free access to the first expansion for future pre-orders. While there's been no official announcement regarding similar compensation for this shorter delay, the impact is expected to be less significant than the previous three-month postponement.
This latest delay might also be linked to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to improve player-centricity in response to disappointing sales figures and record losses in the 2023 fiscal year. Incorporating fan feedback into Assassin's Creed Shadows could be a direct result of this initiative.
