*Atomfall* emphasizes player freedom, allowing you to shape your gameplay experience from the outset. When starting a new game, you'll encounter five distinct playstyle modes, each designed to cater to different preferences:

  • Sightseer – Ideal for those who prioritize the story over combat and survival challenges. This "low-pressure mode" sets Exploration, Survival, and Combat to 'Assisted' difficulty, making it perfect for a relaxed playthrough.

  • Investigator – Suited for players who enjoy self-guided exploration without HUD assistance but prefer less stressful combat. Here, Exploration is set to 'Challenging', Survival to 'Casual', and Combat remains at 'Assisted'.

  • Brawler – For those who relish combat challenges. In this mode, Combat is set to 'Challenging', while Survival is 'Casual' and Exploration is 'Assisted', providing a guided experience in non-combat areas.

  • Survivor – Recommended by the developers, this mode offers a balanced challenge across the board with Combat, Survival, and Exploration all set to 'Challenging'.

  • Veteran – The most demanding playstyle, intended for players seeking a true test of their skills. All aspects—Combat, Survival, and Exploration—are set to 'Intense'.

If you find your initial choice too challenging or too easy, you can switch playstyles at any time without penalty. Simply pause the game, go to 'Options', and under the 'Game' tab, select 'Playstyle'. You can then adjust the difficulty of Combat, Survival, and Exploration to fit another preset or dive into 'Advanced Options' for more detailed customization.

Which Atomfall Playstyle Should You Start With?

*Atomfall* is designed to be a balanced experience, offering flexibility to suit your personal enjoyment. If you're unsure where to start, consider either the **Investigator** or **Brawler** playstyle. These options allow you to gauge your comfort with the game's combat and exploration mechanics, enabling you to adjust your experience accordingly.

For the ultimate customization, however, the tailored playstyle might be your best bet. It allows you to adjust every facet of gameplay, from enemy behavior to exploration ease and bartering, to match your exact preferences.

Notably, there are no achievements or trophies tied to specific difficulty levels, so feel free to change your playstyle as often as you like without worrying about missing out on rewards.
