Dating in Fields of Mistria: What You Need to Know

by Audrey May 01,2025

NPC Studio's *Fields of Mistria* has garnered significant praise for its compelling marriage candidates, rich dialogue, and thoughtfully crafted romance questlines. As players eagerly explore the world of Mistria, a common question arises: Can you date the current romance options in *Fields of Mistria*?

As it stands, the short answer is no – at least not technically. However, after spending over 100 hours trying to win March’s affection, I can confidently say that *Fields of Mistria's* existing romance system is still well worth your time and the $13.99 price tag on Steam.

With *Fields of Mistria’s* first major update in November 2024, the game increased its previous four-heart cap to six and introduced one new heart event for every romanceable NPC to celebrate relationship milestones. These events unlock at even intervals, with engaging cutscenes at two, four, and six hearts. NPC Studio has plans to add eight- and ten-heart events in future updates, though no specific dates or details have been released beyond the upcoming March 2025 update, which will not include an increased heart level cap or new heart events.

While the prospect of undertaking more quests around Mistria is exciting, new players might be disappointed by the current halt in romance development. However, *Fields of Mistria’s* romance is truly exceptional in its current form, largely thanks to its rich and realistic dialogue, which masterfully incorporates flirtatious undertones where romance options are concerned.

The existing heart events are equally compelling. Although early cutscenes can be interpreted as platonic, each event is crafted with enough ambiguity to allow for romantic interpretations, particularly in their settings. As your relationships progress, the romantic pacing in *Fields of Mistria* feels deeply rewarding, even if you can't go on an official date.

New players shouldn't dismiss *Fields of Mistria* solely because dating isn't available yet. The last major update introduced the Shooting Star Festival, a summer event that allows you to initiate a date with eligible NPCs, provided you have four hearts with your chosen romance option. At the time of writing, you can also spend an evening watching the stars with Caldarus, though this doesn't trigger a date at the Summit location as it does with other romance options. This could change with the game’s March 2025 update, which aims to unlock the dragon’s romance questline.

For now, while you may not be able to officially date NPCs in *Fields of Mistria*, the game offers plenty of engaging content to keep players entertained until the feature is fully implemented.

NOTE: Fields of Mistria is currently in Early Access and content is subject to change. The above information is accurate as of Version 0.12.4 and will be updated if necessary.

Fields of Mistria is available to play now in Early Access.
