Witsteen has officially launched Battle for Randland, a new digital trading card game directly inspired by Robert Jordan’s epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time. You might recognize the name from its recent television adaptation.
Battle for Randland is the officially licensed digital card game based on the 14-book saga, originally authored by Jordan and later completed by Brandon Sanderson following Jordan’s passing in 2007.
The game initially developed under the title Cards of Eternity during its incubation at Aether Games. After transitioning to Witsteen BV, it underwent a complete overhaul—ditching blockchain components while introducing contemporary systems and seamless cross-platform play for both PC and mobile users.
Game Narrative and Features
Players align with iconic factions from the novels—the White Tower, Borderlands, Aiel, or Seanchan Empire—each offering unique strategic advantages.
The card collection features deeply rooted lore elements, including recognizable characters, legendary artifacts, and signature magical abilities. With deck-building as its core mechanic, the game delivers immersive 3D battlefields featuring animated companions and spell effects.
Preview the game’s stunning visuals through its official YouTube channel.
Battle modes include competitive ranked matches, casual play, and PvE encounters. Alongside standard duels, developers are currently implementing an upcoming 2v2 multiplayer format.
Release Details
Witsteen hasn’t announced a specific launch date yet. While already listed on Steam and Epic Games Store, mobile platform availability remains pending. Beta testing registration is currently live via the official site.
For newcomers to The Wheel of Time: This landmark fantasy series debuted in 1990, evolving from a planned trilogy into a 14-volume masterpiece supplemented by companion books. Sanderson skillfully concluded the saga between 2009-2013 using Jordan’s comprehensive notes.
The franchise boasts multiple adaptations—from graphic novels and tabletop games to Amazon Prime’s three-season television series (2021-2025). Earlier today, we covered Duet Ducks—a novel rhythm game blending musical gameplay with virtual pet mechanics.
