"Elden Ring Player Finds Limit to Relic Storage"

by Gabriel Jun 19,2025

In *Elden Ring: Nightreign*, relics are powerful items that provide your Nightfarer with valuable enhancements during each run. However, it turns out there's a cap on how many of these relics you can store in your hideaway at once—an important detail that one Reddit user recently discovered the hard way.

On the r/Nightreign subreddit, a user shared a screenshot from their game showing an error message when attempting to start a new expedition: “Cannot launch expedition: Too many relics in possession.” The prompt advised them to use the relic rite menu to sell off excess relics before proceeding.

The poster estimated they were holding “upwards of 1000 maybe,” though the exact limit remains unconfirmed. Some speculate it could be tied to a standard item cap of 999, but without testing, the true threshold remains unclear. Either way, this situation highlights the importance of regular relic management.

There are practical reasons to keep your relic stash under control—mainly to free up space and gain useful resources by selling duplicates or weaker variants. However, when running through *Nightreign* repeatedly, it’s easy to lose track of just how many relics you’ve collected over time.

This post also reignited a familiar critique among players about the current lack of advanced filtering options for relics. As your collection grows, managing which ones are worth keeping becomes increasingly cumbersome. Adding sorting features like rarity, effect type, or usage status could make a big difference in streamlining the experience.

For now, it’s wise to periodically clean out your relic inventory, especially as weeks of gameplay add up. Doing so not only prevents issues like this but also ensures you’re making the most of the boosts available to you in every run.
