In a surprising turn of events, early gameplay footage of the highly anticipated next installment of the Fable series was unexpectedly unveiled during the Official Xbox Podcast. The footage provided fans with a glimpse into the game's world, showcasing various locations, the combat system, and a range of enemies. A snippet of a cutscene was also included, delighting viewers with the return of the iconic chicken kick move, much to the excitement of long-time fans.

Prior to this reveal, the head of Xbox Game Studios announced a delay for Fable, pushing its release from 2025 to 2026. The reason given was the need for additional time to polish and refine the game, ensuring a high-quality experience for players. This delay comes after the game's initial announcement on July 23, 2020, which sparked immense interest but was followed by a period of relative silence regarding the game's progress.

Three years after its announcement, it became evident that Fable was still in the early stages of development. The main developer, Playground Games, sought assistance from Eidos Montreal, indicating the complexity and challenges faced in bringing this reboot to life. The absence of polished gameplay footage for an extended period further highlighted the significant issues the development team was encountering.

Despite these challenges, the unexpected reveal of gameplay footage during the podcast has reignited excitement and anticipation among fans, who are eager to see how the iconic series will evolve in its next chapter.
