Sony and game developer Santa Monica Studio have unveiled the Dark Odyssey collection, an exciting update for God of War Ragnarök set to launch next week. This update brings a range of in-game equipment inspired by one of the franchise's most iconic outfits, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the God of War series.
In a detailed PlayStation.Blog post, Sony outlined the various offerings that will be available as part of the anniversary celebrations. The Dark Odyssey collection stands out as a major highlight, offering a free update to all God of War Ragnarök players on PlayStation 5 and PC on March 20.
The update introduces a sleek, black-and-gold aesthetic to the game, enhancing the visual appeal of Kratos and his companions as they navigate Norse mythology. Alongside Kratos, both Atreus and Freya will receive their own unique cosmetic sets. Additionally, players can customize the appearance of various shields and weapons, adding a new layer of personalization to the gameplay experience.
The centerpiece of the Dark Odyssey collection is a special appearance and armor set for Kratos, reminiscent of a skin previously exclusive to players who conquered God of War 2 on God Mode difficulty. This coveted set can be unlocked by accessing any Lost Items chest in the base game or directly within the roguelike Valhalla mode post-update. Moreover, the update will introduce the much-anticipated feature allowing players to customize Kratos’ weapons' appearances without affecting their abilities.
