Capturing Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is straightforward yet requires precision. The key is to weaken the monster first, then trap it, and finally use a Tranq item to secure the capture. It's a simple process, but timing and preparation are crucial.

Your Palico will alert you when a monster is weak. Additional indicators include a skull icon appearing over the monster's symbol on your minimap, and the monster itself may start limping or drooling, signaling low HP. These are your cues to prepare for capture.

Once the monster is sufficiently weakened, it's time to set your trap. You can use either a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap. Place the trap on the ground and lure the monster into it. When the monster steps into the trap, it will be immobilized for a brief period, giving you the perfect opportunity to throw one or two Tranq Bombs at it. Depending on your weapon and playstyle, you can also use Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades.

Successfully capturing a monster will conclude the quest and return you to Base Camp.

How to Get Traps and Tranq Items

While your Palico may occasionally set traps for you, it's wise to bring your own. There are two types of traps available: Pitfall Traps and Shock Traps. To craft a Pitfall Trap, you'll need a Trap Tool and either Spiderwebs or Ivy. For a Shock Trap, combine a Trap Tool with a Thunderbug Capacitor.

For Tranq items, you can create Tranq Bombs using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom. These can then be combined with Throwing Knives to make Tranq Blades or with Normal Ammo to produce Tranq Ammo.
