Starting the Hermit Quest

The Hermit quest unlocks automatically upon completion of Radovan's quests. After retrieving the lost cart, Radovan will commission a special sword, initiating this questline. Before interacting with the hermit, you must gather information from Troskowitz villagers.

Gathering Information

Begin by speaking with Innkeeper Betty at the Troskowitz tavern, exhausting all dialogue options. Then, speak with other villagers (e.g., the alehouse maid or trader) to gather additional clues.

Talking to Gerda and Stanislav

Speak with Gerda in Troskowitz; she witnessed a relevant event. Either pay her a small sum or succeed in a dialogue check to obtain information. Next, speak with Stanislav in Apollonia, again using either Groschen or dialogue skills.

Gathering Evidence

Locate the cross mentioned by Gerda and dig up the grave (you'll need a spade; purchase one from the Troskowitz trader or find one in a cemetery). Examine the documents and artifacts found within.

Then, investigate the quest marker in Apollonia, examining the black horse near a hut for further clues.

Confronting the Hermit

Proceed to the hermit's hut. Presenting the gathered evidence is crucial for initiating conversation. Select dialogue options like "You're suspicious" and "Out with it!" to reveal Konrad's true identity and his request to deliver a cross to Margaret, a widow. This begins the optional Sinful Soul quest.

Helping or Killing Konrad

Upon returning, you'll find Crusaders near the hut. You can choose to aid the Crusaders in killing Konrad or help him escape. If you choose to kill Konrad, it is significantly easier than fighting the Crusaders.

After dealing with Konrad, speak with the Crusaders to potentially recover the documents for a small fee.

Obtaining the Hermit's Sword

Locate the sword stuck in two tangled oak trees north of the hut. Retrieve it and return to Radovan in Tachov to complete the quest. Consult The Escapist for additional game tips and strategies.
