Larian Unveils New Subclasses in Baldur's Gate 3

Larian Studios has surprised fans by announcing a significant update for Baldur's Gate 3 in 2025, defying expectations that Patch 7 would be the final major update. This substantial update includes highly anticipated features like crossplay support and a photo mode, but the real head-turner is the addition of twelve brand-new subclasses, each promising unique and exciting gameplay mechanics.

While details on four subclasses have already been revealed, let's delve into the remaining eight:

Oath of the Crown Paladin: This paladin subclass champions justice and societal well-being above all else. Their unique ability, Divine Devotion, allows them to absorb incoming damage meant for allies, restoring their health in the process.

Arcane Archer: Blending martial skill with arcane magic, the Arcane Archer fires enchanted arrows capable of blinding, weakening, or even banishing enemies to the Feywild until their next turn. Remarkably, they can even redirect a missed shot to strike a different foe.

Drunken Master Monk: This unconventional monk incorporates alcohol into their fighting style. A signature move intoxicates opponents, leaving them disoriented while enhancing the monk's own capabilities. Furthermore, using Instant Sobriety on an intoxicated target inflicts both physical and mental damage.

Swarmkeeper Ranger: Commanding the power of nature, the Swarmkeeper Ranger forms alliances with various swarms of creatures. These swarms act as both a shield and aid in teleportation. In combat, they can deploy three distinct swarms: electric jellyfish clusters, blinding moth clouds, and stinging bee legions capable of knocking back enemies who fail a strength check by 4.5 meters.
