Mecha BREAK, the multiplayer mech shooter from Chinese developer Amazing Seasun, recently wrapped up its open beta on Steam, drawing in over 300,000 concurrent players at its peak. The game has also climbed to become the 5th most wishlisted title on the platform, signaling strong community interest. In response to player feedback, the development team is considering a major shift in how mechs—officially known as Break Strikers—are unlocked.
Developers Explore Unlocking All Mechs From the Start
During the open beta, which ended on March 16, players had access to only one Break Striker at the start. Additional mechs could be unlocked by grinding through matches and earning in-game currency to purchase them. However, many players found this process time-consuming, especially when trying to collect all 12 available mechs.
In light of this feedback, the Mecha BREAK team is now evaluating the possibility of making all mechs freely accessible from the beginning. This would allow players to jump straight into the action without being held back by unlock requirements. Alongside this potential change, developers are also looking into adjustments for mech module usage in both 3v3 and 6v6 competitive modes.
Despite these considerations, Amazing Seasun remains committed to its live service model moving forward. While no official decisions have been made regarding the unlock system, the team continues to analyze data and engage with the community to ensure long-term sustainability and balance within the game.
