The release date was unveiled in a stunning trailer posted by GameSpot on their official YouTube channel. This trailer, which also appeared on the game’s PlayStation Store page, offers a glimpse into the enhanced visuals and gameplay that players can expect. Although Konami has not yet made an official announcement on their social media platforms, the confirmation of the August release date has brought much-needed relief and excitement to fans who have been eagerly awaiting updates for nearly two years.
First revealed at the PlayStation Showcase in May 2023, the game was originally slated for a 2024 launch. However, subsequent trailers released during the Xbox Games Showcase and the Tokyo Game Show shifted focus to detailed gameplay footage, pushing the release to 2025. According to the official Metal Gear X (Twitter) account, the remake aims to stay true to the original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in terms of gameplay and audio, as emphasized by the Delta symbol (Δ) which signifies "change" or "difference" without altering the fundamental structure.

Adding to the excitement, the trailer teased an unexpected collaboration with the PlayStation classic, Ape Escape. A scene at the end of the trailer features an iconic ape from the series jumping out from behind a log, taunting the viewer before dashing off. While details on this integration remain scarce, the trailer hints at more surprises with a mysterious "And more…" at its conclusion.
