"Monster Hunter Wilds: Understanding Seasons and Weather"

by Samuel May 18,2025

Seasons and weather in *Monster Hunter Wilds* add dynamic layers to the gameplay experience in the Forbidden Lands, influencing not only the visuals but also how you interact with the game world. Here's a comprehensive guide to understanding and navigating the seasonal changes and weather patterns in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.

Monster Hunter Wilds Seasons, Explained

Monster Hunter Wilds

In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, the Forbidden Lands experience two distinct types of seasons: Fallow and Plenty, each significantly affecting the environment and gameplay.

The game begins in the Fallow season, characterized by a harsh environment and intense weather events. During Fallow, resources are scarce, leading to a desperate atmosphere. This scarcity makes monsters more aggressive, and you'll witness more frequent inter-monster conflicts.

In contrast, the Plenty season offers a more welcoming atmosphere with abundant flora and a visually vibrant landscape. This season sees less hostility from small monsters, who are less likely to travel in packs. The abundance of Endemic Life and various plants during Plenty makes it a celebratory time for both the villagers in the Forbidden Lands and *Monster Hunter Wilds* players.

Between these seasons, brief but intense weather events known as Inclemency occur. These events amplify weather conditions and set the stage for dramatic battles with Apex Predators. For instance, the Pinnacle of the Pack Assignment involves battling the Alpha Doshaguma during Sandtide, a fierce sandstorm accompanied by lightning. Throughout the game, you'll encounter various unique weather events during these crucial encounters.

To stay informed about the current season and weather in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, you can rely on the game's HUD and map. The HUD displays icons at the bottom left corner indicating the time of day and current season. For a more detailed view, open your map and press the prompted button to access the Environment Overview, which provides comprehensive information on the prevailing weather and season.

Additionally, Optional Quests, which are replayable, are set to specific times of day and seasons. Engaging in these quests will transport you to the designated environment, regardless of the current season in the main game.

How To Change the Season and Weather in Monster Hunter Wilds

Given the significant impact of seasons on the flora and fauna in the Forbidden Lands, you might find it beneficial to switch between Fallow and Plenty based on your hunting needs. *Monster Hunter Wilds* allows you to change the season and weather by resting in your tent.

To do this, pitch your tent and rest. Navigate to the BBQ Menu, then select the Rest option. Here, you can adjust the Environment and Time settings for when your Hunter wakes up. However, resting comes with a cost of 300 Guild Points and is only available to Hunters of High Rank. Keep in mind that you cannot rest during an active quest.

This guide covers everything you need to know about the dynamic seasons and weather in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, ensuring you're well-prepared for your adventures in the Forbidden Lands.

*Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
