Nintendo Switch 2 Direct: April 2, 2025

The teaser revealed a larger screen and a more robust kickstand. The Joy-Cons have been redesigned with magnetic connection, replacing the original rails. A new USB-C port on the console itself was also confirmed.

Crucially, Nintendo confirmed backwards compatibility. Both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games will be playable, although some titles may have limited or no support.
