Palworld developer Pocketpair is gearing up for a significant crossplay update, slated for release in late March 2025. This eagerly anticipated update, as confirmed by Pocketpair on X/Twitter, will introduce multiplayer functionality across all platforms and include a new world transfer feature for Pals. Accompanying the announcement was a promotional image showcasing a group of Palworld characters engaged in battle with a formidable Pal.

John 'Bucky' Buckley, Pocketpair's Communications Director and Publishing Manager, hinted at "a few little surprises" that will come with the March update, adding an extra layer of excitement for fans.

This update is a welcome development for the 32 million players who have embraced Palworld since its early access launch in January 2024. Pocketpair has outlined an extensive content roadmap for 2025, which includes not only the crossplay feature but also an "ending scenario" and additional new content for this immensely popular creature-catching survival game.

Palworld made a splash upon its release on Steam for $30 and simultaneously on Xbox and PC through Game Pass, shattering sales and concurrent player records. Pocketpair's CEO, Takuro Mizobe, admitted that the game's launch was so successful that the studio struggled to manage the massive influx of profits. In response to Palworld's breakout success, Pocketpair swiftly moved to expand its reach, signing a deal with Sony to create Palworld Entertainment, a new business dedicated to growing the IP and bringing the game to the PS5.

However, the game's success is overshadowed by a legal challenge from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, who are seeking an injunction and damages, claiming that Palworld has infringed on multiple patent rights. Pocketpair has responded to the allegations by identifying the patents in question and making adjustments to how players summon Pals within the game. The studio has also expressed its readiness to defend its position in court against Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, stating, "We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings."
