Technical Difficulties Hinder Switch Port
In a recent interview, Mizobe highlighted the significant technical hurdles in adapting Palworld's high PC specifications to the Switch's hardware. While discussions regarding new platforms are ongoing, no concrete announcements are planned at this time. Despite the challenges, Mizobe remains optimistic about expanding Palworld's reach to more players. He previously acknowledged the PC version's demanding specs as a primary obstacle for a Switch port.
The future platform plans remain unclear, with no confirmation regarding PlayStation, mobile, or other consoles. Earlier this year, Mizobe did confirm that Pocketpair is exploring options for broader platform availability. He also mentioned the company is open to partnerships or acquisitions but hasn't engaged in buyout discussions with Microsoft.
Future Plans Include Enhanced Multiplayer
Beyond platform considerations, Mizobe expressed a desire to enhance Palworld's multiplayer aspects. An upcoming arena mode, described as an experiment, will pave the way for more substantial multiplayer experiences. Mizobe's ultimate goal is to introduce a robust PvP mode, drawing inspiration from popular survival games like Ark and Rust, known for their challenging environments, deep resource management, and extensive player interaction.
Palworld, a creature-collecting survival shooter, has enjoyed a successful launch, selling 15 million copies on PC within its first month and attracting 10 million players on Xbox Game Pass. A major update, the Sakurajima update, is launching this Thursday, featuring a new island, the anticipated PvP arena, and additional content.
