Pedro Pascal, renowned for his roles in acclaimed series like The Last of Us, The Mandalorian, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, has publicly criticized Harry Potter author JK Rowling for her controversial stance against the transgender community. This criticism came in response to Rowling's online comments celebrating a UK Supreme Court decision that legally defines "woman" as "a biological woman and biological sex," thereby excluding transgender women from protections under the Equality Act.
Rowling's celebratory post on Twitter/X, featuring her smoking a cigar and drinking by the ocean, captioned "I love it when a plan comes together," was a nod to her financial support of For Scotland Women, the organization behind the lawsuit. This post prompted a strong reaction from writer and activist Tariq Raouf, who condemned Rowling's actions in a video, calling them "serious Voldemort villain sh*t" and urging a boycott of anything related to Harry Potter.
In response to Raouf's video, Pascal did not hold back, labeling Rowling's behavior as "awful disgusting SHT" and "heinous LOSER behavior." His outspoken support for the transgender community is well-documented. Pascal has previously shared sentiments such as, "I can’t think of anything more vile and small and pathetic than terrorizing the smallest, most vulnerable community of people who want nothing from you, except the right to exist," alongside a photo of a sign affirming the existence and importance of trans people. Additionally, he made a statement at the premiere of Thunderbolts* in London by wearing a shirt that read "Protect the dolls," a term of endearment for trans women within the LGBTQIA+ community.
Pascal's support for transgender rights is deeply personal; his sister, Lux Pascal, came out as a trans woman in 2021. He celebrated her announcement with a heartfelt message on social media, "Mi hermana, mi corazón, nuestra Lux," translating to "My sister, my heart, our Lux."
