Pokémon Go is wrapping up the year in style with the New Year’s 2025 event

As 2024 draws to a close, Pokémon GO is celebrating the New Year with its annual festive event, running from December 30th to January 1st, 2025. Get ready for themed bonuses, special Pokémon encounters, and a fantastic way to ring in the new year!

Following the December 21st-22nd Community Day event, featuring a return of all previous Community Day Pokémon, the New Year's event offers a fresh wave of festivities.

One exciting feature is the chance to earn a whopping 2,025 XP for each Pokémon caught with an Excellent Throw. Immerse yourself in the celebratory atmosphere with festive fireworks illuminating the skies and New Year's decorations enhancing your gameplay experience.

Expect increased encounters with themed Pokémon! Keep an eye out for Jigglypuff with a ribbon, Hoothoot in a New Year's outfit, and Wurmple sporting a party hat—and don't forget to look for their Shiny variants!

Raids are also getting a festive makeover. One-star raids will feature a Pikachu in a snowflake beanie, while three-star raids bring you Raticate and Wobbuffet, both decked out in party hats. Shiny rates for all three are boosted during the event.

For quest enthusiasts, numerous Field Research and Timed Research tasks offer additional Pokémon encounters. A paid Timed Research ($2) provides exclusive rewards: three Premium Battle Passes, three Lucky Eggs, 2,025 Stardust, and encounters with event Pokémon.
