Pokemon GO Tour Pass: New Free Progression Feature Unveiled

by Camila Mar 29,2025

In the world of *Pokemon GO,* the announcement of a new ticket or pass often sparks curiosity about its cost. However, the newly introduced *Pokemon GO* Tour Pass for the Global event of *Pokemon GO* Tour: Unova comes as a pleasant surprise—it's free! But what exactly is this Tour Pass, and how can it enhance your gaming experience?

What Is a Tour Pass in *Pokemon GO*?

The Tour Pass is a fresh addition to *Pokemon GO,* debuting with the *Pokemon GO* Tour: Unova Global event. This pass is all about engaging players with various tasks to earn Tour Points. These points unlock rewards, boost your rank, and enhance event bonuses throughout the GO Tour Unova event. The Tour Pass is automatically granted to all players when the event kicks off on February 24 at 10 AM local time, at no cost.

For those looking for an extra edge, there's also a paid option called the Tour Pass Deluxe, priced at $14.99 USD or its local equivalent. This deluxe version offers an immediate encounter with Victini, along with enhanced rewards and accelerated progression through the Tour Pass levels.

How Do You Earn Tour Points & What Do They Do?

Earning Tour Points is straightforward and involves familiar in-game activities such as catching Pokemon, participating in raids, and hatching eggs. Additionally, there are special Pass Tasks that refresh daily during the GO Tour, offering more opportunities to accumulate points.

These Tour Points are your key to unlocking a variety of rewards, including Pokemon encounters, candy, Poke Balls, and more, as you progress through the Tour Pass tiers. Advancing through these tiers not only grants you these rewards but also increases your Catch XP bonus during the *Pokemon GO* Tour: Unova event. The bonuses escalate as follows:

  • 1.5× Catch XP upon reaching Tier 2
  • 2× Catch XP upon reaching Tier 3
  • 3× Catch XP upon reaching Tier 4

While Niantic has kept some details under wraps, promising more information soon, we do know that the highest reward tier in the free Tour Pass leads to an encounter with Zorua, featuring a special background. On the other hand, the Tour Pass Deluxe offers a unique final reward: the Lucky Trinket.

What Is a Lucky Trinket?

The Lucky Trinket is an exclusive item available only to those who purchase the Tour Pass Deluxe. It's the ultimate reward for dedicated players who invest significant time during the GO Tour Global event. This one-time-use item has a magical effect: it can transform one of your friends into a Lucky Friend, allowing you to trade and obtain a Lucky Pokemon without needing to be Best Friends. However, you must be at least Great Friends to use it.

Keep in mind that Lucky Trinkets obtained during GO Tour: Unova will expire on March 9, 2025, so make sure to use them within this limited timeframe.

*Pokemon GO* is available to play now, so dive in and explore the exciting new features of the Tour Pass during the *Pokemon GO* Tour: Unova event!
