Nintendo Told to Delist Its Game Pending Switch 2 Patch

by Evelyn Apr 15,2026

Limited Run Games has requested that Nintendo temporarily remove the Gex Trilogy from the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop until there is a clear timeline for a patch addressing its backward compatibility issues.

In a social media statement, Limited Run explained that the anticipated patch will not arrive this week due to approval delays, which the company attributed to the recent US public holiday. As an interim measure, the publisher has asked Nintendo to suspend the game’s availability in the eShop.

Limited Run acknowledged that several of its titles originally released for the first Switch have faced compatibility challenges on the Switch 2. Although a recent firmware update improved performance for most games, the Gex Trilogy remains affected. The company has developed a patch to address these issues, but it is still awaiting approval for public release.

"Since the timeline for a firmware fix remains uncertain, we submitted our own patch last week to resolve the issue," Limited Run stated. "Due to the Juneteenth holiday, approval has been delayed, but we expect the patch to go live early next week.

"In the meantime, we’ve asked Nintendo to remove the game from the Switch 2 eShop. We appreciate your patience as we collaborate with Nintendo to resolve this matter."

Limited Run is encouraging players to check whether other titles from the publisher are now running correctly on the Switch 2. A list of these games is provided below:

The Gex Trilogy brings together all three platforming adventures featuring the wisecracking gecko: Gex, Gex: Enter the Gecko, and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. It launched on June 16 for PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series, and last-generation consoles. The original Gex made its debut back in 1995 on the 3DO, later appearing on the PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and PC. Sequels followed in 1998 and 1999, but publisher Square Enix has not released a new installment since, heightening anticipation for this remastered collection.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has gotten off to an impressive start, selling 3.5 million consoles, though an analysis of its launch-week sales reveals a mixed performance for third-party titles not developed by Nintendo.
