A remake of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion will have big changes to game mechanics

MP1st has uncovered intriguing details about a rumored The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake, sourced not from industry insiders, but from the portfolio of an anonymous former Virtuos Studios developer. This purported remake, built using Unreal Engine 5, promises a significant departure from the original.

The portfolio suggests a complete reimagining of Oblivion, with overhauled mechanics across the board. This includes substantial changes to stamina management, stealth mechanics, attack blocking (drawing inspiration from Soulslike games to address the original's perceived shortcomings), archery, damage reactions, and the user interface. The damage system will reportedly feature more visible and impactful hit reactions, while stamina is expected to be more intuitive. The UI and archery systems will also receive modernizations.

MP1st speculates that, while initially conceived as a remaster (as hinted at in leaked Microsoft documents), the project has evolved into a full-scale remake.

While sources confirm the remake won't appear at the upcoming Developer_Direct, rumors suggest a potential release within the year.
