"Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Unveiled: Super Thin Design"

by Max May 29,2025

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, marking its latest flagship smartphone release during the May Unpacked event. Boasting a sleeker design compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Edge offers a refined aesthetic while maintaining key specifications. Although it closely mirrors the Galaxy S25 released earlier in 2025, the new thinner profile gives this device a distinct advantage.

In terms of hardware, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge mirrors the Galaxy S25 Ultra, equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and featuring a 200MP camera system. However, the standout difference lies in its chassis, which has been dramatically reduced to just 5.8mm thick, compared to the 8.2mm thickness of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This reduction not only enhances portability but also cuts the weight down to 163g, making it significantly lighter.

Despite its slimmer build, the Galaxy S25 Edge retains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display as the Galaxy S25, offering a nearly identical visual experience to the slightly larger 6.9-inch panel of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Durability remains a critical consideration given the phone's thin profile and size. To counteract concerns, Samsung has upgraded the protective glass to Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which promises enhanced resilience compared to the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While this improvement aims to mitigate damage from drops, the real challenge may lie in preventing potential bending issues caused by everyday wear.

The Galaxy S25 Edge incorporates the same suite of "Mobile AI" tools introduced with the Galaxy S24, further refined in 2025. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the device supports extensive local AI processing, prioritizing user privacy. Nevertheless, many AI-driven applications still depend on cloud services, leaving room for continued reliance on remote servers.

Available for preorder starting today, the Galaxy S25 Edge starts at $1,099 for the 256GB variant and $1,219 for the 512GB option. It launches in three color choices: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung emphasizes the robustness of this slender device. Time will tell whether its durability claims hold up under scrutiny.
