Sonic Rumble, set to launch globally on May 8th, has already kicked off its inaugural crossover event featuring some of SEGA's most iconic characters. Dubbed Crossover Event #0: SEGA Stars, this limited-time event runs until May 7th, giving fans a taste of what’s to come ahead of the full release.
Currently in soft launch mode, Sonic Rumble is available in over 40 countries, having initially launched during pre-launch 1 in Summer 2024 across regions like the Philippines, Scandinavia, and Colombia. Pre-launch 2 expanded availability to additional markets such as Canada, Turkey, Malaysia, and South Africa.
What’s Inside the SEGA Stars Crossover?
For players in eligible regions, the SEGA Stars crossover offers a delightful blend of nostalgia and excitement. The legendary Altered Beast characters are making a comeback, with the Werewolf transformation available for free. Fans of the nostalgic beast modes can also obtain the Werebear and Weredragon, though their availability depends on your payment preferences. The Weredragon is part of the Premium Pass, while the Werebear may be accessible via regular rings.
Fantasy Zone enthusiasts will rejoice as Opa-Opa joins the roster, available through the Premium Pass. Meanwhile, Upa-Upa can be acquired using fragments purchased with standard rings, priced at 700 each.
Rounding out the crossover are AiAi and MeeMee from Super Monkey Ball. AiAi is obtainable for 729 Red Star Rings, adding another layer of charm to the event.
Exclusive Rewards Await
During the event, players can earn special bonuses by collecting SEGA logos in matches. Although this event is live before the official global launch, SEGA has confirmed that many of these pre-release rewards will reappear post-launch.
This crossover highlights SEGA’s rich history and diversity, blending classic franchises with modern gameplay. The eclectic mix of monkeys, sentient arcade ships, and transformed creatures promises to enhance the Sonic Rumble experience.
