"Silksong Fans Hopeful for Nintendo Direct Reveal Next Week"

by Blake Apr 25,2025

The fervor surrounding the long-awaited sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong, reached new heights of anticipation and subsequent disappointment following the recent Nintendo Direct. The dedicated fanbase, often seen sporting clown makeup as a humorous nod to their repeated letdowns, was left wanting yet again as no new trailer emerged during the showcase.

The community's reaction was swift and filled with a mix of humor and frustration. On platforms like Reddit and Discord, fans shared memes and "silkposts," showcasing their undying hope and playful despair. The anticipation for Silksong has been palpable for years, with the community's antics previously highlighted during back-to-back Directs last year and a misleading chocolate cake photo in January that sparked an unfounded ARG hunt.

However, the upcoming showcase on April 2nd carries a different weight. Given Hollow Knight's success on the Nintendo Switch following its initial PC release, fans are hopeful that Silksong might make a grand re-debut alongside the unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2. The event promises to showcase new hardware and potential launch titles, making it an ideal stage for Silksong—if the game is indeed ready for a major reveal.

Despite the community's high hopes, there's a lingering doubt about yet another disappointment. Recent indicators, such as a mention in an Xbox Wire post and backend changes on the game's Steam listing, have fueled speculation. Yet, the community has been down this road before, with Silksong appearing and disappearing from various console storefronts, leading to countless false alarms.

The only concrete assurance comes from Team Cherry's Matthew 'Leth' Griffin, who confirmed in January that the game is real, in development, and will eventually see the light of day. Until then, fans are left to dream of a post-Silksong world, all while preparing their clown makeup for the next showcase.

As the community gears up for April 2nd, the blend of excitement and skepticism remains a testament to their enduring passion for Hollow Knight: Silksong.
