Sonic The Hedgehog 3 has raced past yet another milestone, now ranking as the second highest-grossing video game movie adaptation in North America. With Keanu Reeves joining the cast as Shadow the Hedgehog, the film has surpassed $204 million domestically after earning $11 million in its fourth weekend across 3,582 locations. Globally, it has amassed an impressive $384.8 million.

This latest installment has outpaced its predecessor, Sonic 2, in the domestic box office race. However, it remains far behind the top-earning video game adaptation, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which achieved a staggering $574,934,330 domestically and an astounding $1,359,146,628 worldwide. These records may stand unchallenged, though upcoming releases like the Minecraft movie and the Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel could pose a challenge.

Despite not reaching the top spot, Sonic The Hedgehog 3 is a resounding success for Paramount, which has already greenlit Sonic 4.
