Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, the Disney+ animated series that follows Peter Parker during his first year of high school, has already been renewed for a second and third season. This exciting news comes from Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming, television, and animation, who shared insights during an interview with The Movie Podcast.
Despite Season 1 not premiering until January 29, Winderbaum revealed that Season 2's scripts are complete and half of its animated storyboards, known as animatics, are already finished. This demonstrates the high level of preparation and enthusiasm behind the project. Season 3 has also been greenlit, with Winderbaum expressing his deep affection for the characters and the narrative being crafted by lead writer and executive producer Jeff Trammell.
"I've fallen so head over heels in love with these characters and I've now read all of the scripts for Season 2; we're halfway through the animatics," Winderbaum shared. He praised Trammell's storytelling, noting how the series builds and pays off in a way that deeply resonates with viewers. "What [lead writer and executive producer Jeff Trammell] is building brick by brick in this show starts to pay off. And you feel it in Season 1. You grow connected to these characters so that when everything starts to lock into place and pay off by the end of the season. I feel it in my very soul and it just gets deeper and deeper in subsequent seasons."
