Short Circuit Studio has recently unveiled an exciting new update for their newly launched settlement builder game, TownsFolk. Titled "Shadows and Fortune," this update introduces a darker, more thrilling dimension to the charming pixel-art adventure, enhancing the gameplay with a variety of new mechanics and features.
Even though TownsFolk is fresh on the scene, the developers are not holding back on enriching the game's depth. The "Shadows and Fortune" update brings a host of new elements to the table, including roaming Barbarians that will ramp up the tension in both campaign missions and Skirmish mode. Players will also have the opportunity to construct eight new buildings: the Altar, the Town Square, the Blacksmith, the Aqueduct, the Bank, the Granary, the Factory, and the Terraformer, each adding unique strategic layers to the gameplay.
The aquatic environment is getting a splash of excitement with the introduction of the rare Whale in the water tiles, adding a new challenge and allure to the exploration aspect. Additionally, the update introduces Special Locations that enhance the game's unpredictability, such as ancient Obelisks and new Shipwrecks, sparking curiosity about their functions and benefits.
To help players navigate through the expanded world of TownsFolk, a new Compendium feature acts as an in-game encyclopedia, providing detailed information on all the new additions. The Exploration System has been revamped, and players can now adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes, tailoring the challenge to their preference.
