Launch Date Moved to September 12

In a surprising turn of events following the State of Play announcement, Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford shared a video on Twitter (X) on April 29, announcing that Borderlands 4 would be released earlier than planned on September 12. Although the video was quickly deleted, Pitchford followed up with a post explaining that he had shared the news prematurely and would repost it soon.

In the video, Pitchford highlighted the smooth progress of development, stating that "everything’s going kinda the best scenario," which led to the decision to move up the launch date. Initially announced to be released on September 23 during PlayStation's February State of Play, Borderlands 4 is now set to launch two weeks earlier, as confirmed by the game's official Twitter (X) account.

The official post read, "After careful consideration–along with A LOT of meetings, playtestings, and incredible development work–we have made the monumental decision to MOVE UP THE LAUNCH DATE OF BORDERLANDS 4 to SEPTEMBER 12."
