Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed hidden encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent stat boosts, extra passive skill points, and weapon skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. However, this encounter is easily missed. This guide explains how to locate and activate it.

Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan

The Sisters of Garukhan encounter appears twice: in Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with the shrine grants the +10% Lightning Resistance bonus. Its subtle icon on the world map makes it easy to overlook.

Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, the Sisters' precise location within the Spires of Deshar varies. However, it's always present on this map. Thorough exploration is key. The shrine resembles the image above. Upon interaction, nearby automatons will activate and attack. Activating the shrine triggers all automatons on the map.

A convenient strategy involves reaching the checkpoint near the exit before interacting with the shrine. This allows fast travel back to the shrine's vicinity, avoiding a potentially difficult fight through the entire map.

Claiming the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff

The +10% Lightning Resistance is granted instantly upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; it's applied immediately.

The Sisters of Garukhan encounter is repeatable in Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine in both acts yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.

Troubleshooting: Why the Buff Isn't Showing

Many players find it confusing that their resistance values remain negative even after activating the buff. This is because PoE 2 applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances after each Act (Chaos Resistance is unaffected).

Completing the Sisters of Garukhan in Act 2 neutralizes the Act 1 debuff, resulting in a net zero Lightning Resistance. In Act 2 Cruel, the buff partially offsets the cumulative elemental resistance debuffs, improving your overall Lightning Resistance.

To verify the buff's activation, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance total indicates that you haven't missed the encounter.
