Amazon’s God of War TV series has not yet premiered, but it is already slated for two seasons, according to showrunner Ronald D. Moore.
Moore took over the God of War series following the departure of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. In an interview with fellow Battlestar Galactica alum Katee Sackhoff, Moore shared some details about his current work.
"Right now, I’m adapting the hit video game God of War for television. Amazon has ordered two seasons and brought me on board," Moore stated. "So I’m actively in the writer’s room, focusing on this new project."

Moore added that he is not a gamer, though he enjoys classic titles like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He mentioned attempting to play, but the controller layout confused him. "They’d say, ‘Press R1.’ I didn’t know which button was R1, and suddenly I was dead," Moore explained.
For God of War, Moore joined as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. His previous credits include Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, along with serving as showrunner for the 2000s Battlestar Galactica series.
While some former team members left, Sony’s Cory Barlog remained as executive producer. Few other details are confirmed for the God of War series, but it is known to be based on the 2018 God of War game.
Amazon has been quick to renew video game adaptations like the Fallout TV series and Secret Level after successful debuts. This trend suggests promising streaming prospects for God of War.
