Embarking on the perilous journey through the Living Lands in Avowed is far easier with the right companions. This RPG boasts four unique companions, each with distinct personalities and upgradeable abilities. Let's meet the team!

Avowed Companions

Kai

Kai is one of the first companions you'll encounter, joining your party early in Dawnshore near Paradis. A fierce ex-mercenary with a surprisingly soft side, Kai is a formidable tank in combat, capable of both sustaining and dealing significant damage. His fire abilities are also useful for clearing obstacles and revealing hidden paths.

Kai's Upgradeable Abilities:

• Fire and Ire (Active): A powerful blunderbuss shot that stuns and taunts a single enemy.
• Unbending Defense (Active): Regenerates health and increases damage reduction.
• Leap of Daring (Active): A powerful leap that stuns and taunts nearby enemies.
• Second Win (Passive): Revives Kai with 50% health upon reaching zero.

Marius

Marius, encountered in Dawnshore, shares a history with Kai. A skilled hunter and tracker, his expertise translates into both his personality and gameplay. His Hunter Sense helps locate loot and crafting materials, while his combat prowess utilizes bow and arrow, daggers, and nature-bending abilities.

Marius' Upgradeable Abilities:

• Binding Roots (Active): Roots an enemy in place.
• Heart Seeker (Active): A piercing shot that ignores obstacles.
• Shadow Step (Active): A stealth attack that repeats up to three times.
• Wounding Shots (Passive): Attacks inflict bleeding.

Giatta

Found later in the Emerald Stair region, Giatta is an animancer whose magic plays a crucial role in the main quest. While not a damage dealer, Giatta provides invaluable support through healing, shielding, and buffs. Her Spectral Jolt ability activates Essence Generators, opening up new exploration paths.

Giatta's Upgradeable Abilities:

• Purification (Active): Heals all allies.
• Barrier (Active): Grants allies a temporary health shield.
• Acceleration (Active): Increases ally movement and attack speed.
• Reconstruction (Passive): Attacks heal allies slightly.

Yatzli

Yatzli, the final companion, joins your party in Thirdborn within the Shatterscarp region (though she can be encountered earlier). A damage-focused magic user, Yatzli's spells excel at both single-target and area-of-effect attacks, along with obstacle removal.

Yatzli's Upgradeable Abilities:

• Essence Explosion (Active): An explosive arcane attack.
• Minoletta’s Missile Battery (Active): A volley of homing arcane missiles.
• Arduos Delay of Motion (Active): Slows enemies.
• Blast (Passive): Attacks create a small area-of-effect explosion.
