Bandai Namco Shuts Down PAC-MAN Mobile

Bandai Namco has announced the shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, a move that comes with a twist of irony as the iconic character celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. Launched over a decade ago, this version of the game, previously known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just classic arcade vibes.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases were discontinued as of April 1st, but players can continue enjoying the game until the final date. If you're among those still playing, you have until May 30th to savor your last moments with the game.

Many players have voiced their disappointment over the complete shutdown rather than an offline version. An offline option would have been well-received and could have continued to generate revenue for Bandai Namco.

PAC-MAN Mobile enriched the classic experience with a Story Mode featuring numerous original mazes. Additionally, the game included an Adventure Mode with limited-time themed events, offering players a chance to earn exclusive skins. The Tournament Mode provided weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels, and the game boasted a variety of skins for PAC-MAN, ghosts, and even the joystick.

The Reason

The decision to shut down PAC-MAN Mobile likely stems from the accumulation of bugs and issues over the years, which have marred the gaming experience. The initial years following its launch on Android were filled with excitement as players competed for high scores and leaderboard rankings, making it a fun and engaging experience.

If you wish to play PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can still download it from the Google Play Store.
