The Battle Cats 12th-anniversary ad campaign takes you back to the Sengoku era to \"become the cat\"

by Hannah Jan 08,2025

The Battle Cats celebrates 12 years of quirky cat-fueled tower defense action! To mark this milestone, developer Ponos has launched a captivating Sengoku-era ad campaign, blending historical artistry with the game's signature offbeat humor.

This new series of commercials transports players to the Sengoku period, showcasing strategic battles alongside the familiar, whimsical cat food cans. The campaign, titled "The Way of the Cat," is a collaboration with R/GA and delivers cinematic visuals that are surprisingly compelling. After viewing these ads, you might just find yourself wanting to "be the cat, become the cat."

"Celebrating 12 years of The Battle Cats, we're thrilled to subvert expectations and highlight the game's strategic depth," explains Ponos' COO and Managing Director Seiichiro Sano. "Our partnership with R/GA honors our history while inviting new players to experience tactical gameplay in a unique way."
