Battlefield 6 Devs Prioritize Art Over Objectives

by Zachary Mar 13,2026

While the Support, Assault, and Recon classes in Battlefield 6 focus on teamwork to secure victory, some Engineer enthusiasts have been spending their time crafting in-game artwork instead of securing objectives.

In the days following the highly anticipated release of EA and Battlefield Studios' sixth mainline installment, players have been sharing breathtaking cinematic moments straight out of an action film. With jets roaring above and tanks crashing through structures, the Engineer class has discovered one of the most inventive uses for their equipment.

For years, the repair tool has been a way for players to leave sketches for both friendly and enemy squads. Battlefield 6 has given players a fresh chance to revive this beloved tradition. Designed to repair—or damage—tanks, helicopters, and other armored vehicles, the Engineer’s tool leaves scorch marks on any surface it touches. In skilled hands, it becomes a versatile pen for drawing, and Battlefield 6 players are embracing this creative outlet.

As teams rush to capture or defend objectives, they might encounter drawings left by players expressing their artistic side. These range from simple doodles—like the legendary "Cool S" or a smiley face—to intricate portraits of characters such as the virtual singer Hatsune Miku and Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z.

"Meanwhile on the Battlefield," one fan quips, "Where are all the engineers?" Another replies, "Cut to a burning tank."

Are detailed drawings easy to create? Not at all. Does spending time on elaborate art take Engineers away from supporting their squad? Most likely, but that hasn’t stopped others from appreciating the results. Some players are even using the Engineer’s repair tool to start new forms of interaction—like a friendly game of tic-tac-toe.

An Engineer absorbed in sketching a Dragon Ball character can be an easy target, especially depending on location. Interestingly, the creator of the Vegeta artwork reported that not every opponent is out for a quick elimination.

"What really stood out was an enemy spotting me drawing and choosing not to attack," they shared, adding a heart emoji. "I plan to jump back in today and attempt another piece. I’m not sure how many marks I can make before they fade, which is why I stopped adding more hair detail—but I’ll push further next time."

While many Engineers leave playful drawings for others to enjoy, some have started using the tool to send messages to other classes. Support players have even tried using the repair tool to politely ask for patience from teammates requesting revives.

Battlefield 6 launched on October 10 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, achieving record-breaking success. Since its release, the community has been debating what movement improvements EA and Battlefield Studios should implement next. Others are simply hoping for adjustments to some of the game’s more blindingly bright maps.
