Despite Avowed's expansive Living Lands, the main quest is surprisingly concise. For players seeking extended gameplay after completing the main storyline, here's a breakdown of the post-game experience.
New Game Plus?
Many RPG fans relish replaying the main quest on higher difficulties with acquired skills and gear. Unfortunately, Avowed currently lacks a New Game Plus mode at launch. While not confirmed, future updates or DLC could potentially introduce this feature, given player demand.
However, replayability exists even without New Game Plus. Avowed's branching narrative and diverse character builds encourage multiple playthroughs to explore different story outcomes and character development.
Endgame Content?
Avowed comprises four main regions, plus a secret final area and a revisit to a major city (details withheld to avoid spoilers). High-level Legendary Quality Weapons and Gear are crucial for navigating these challenging final areas.
However, progress in these final areas doesn't affect previous regions, and no new areas unlock post-completion. This means you can't revisit the Living Lands to see how your choices have reshaped them, a notable omission.
Post-Game Activities:
Avowed's post-game is somewhat limited by the absence of New Game Plus and endgame content. Upon finishing the final encounter, you'll witness several minutes of cutscenes depicting the consequences of your choices. Afterward, you're returned to the main menu.
From the main menu, you can start a new game or reload a previous save. Autosaves are available before the point of no return and the final encounter, allowing you to replay those sections and experiment with different choices for varied story endings.
Reloading to a pre-point-of-no-return save grants access to all previous regions. This allows for map completion, achievement hunting, side quest finishing, and collectible gathering. Importantly, enemies in earlier regions don't scale to your level, making a return trip with high-level gear incredibly rewarding.
In summary, that's the post-game experience in Avowed.
Avowed is available now on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass.
