Today's revealed cards belong to the "Through the Ages" bonus sheet included in the larger main set. These are reprints of existing cards, reimagined with concept art and characters from various Final Fantasy titles. While they aren't brand-new or mechanically unique like some recent reveals or the previously shown Commander decks, their artwork spans the entire series history, reaching back to the very first game.

Releases June 13Final Fantasy - Play Booster Pack
0$7.99 at TCGPlayerUnlike cards in the main set, Through the Ages cards are not automatically legal in Magic's Standard format (though they remain legal if the original card already was). They are essentially alternate-art versions. You can find them in Collector Boosters and in approximately one out of every three regular Play Boosters, which are used for Limited formats like Draft and Sealed.
This means if you plan to play this set extensively, either at your local game store or digitally on platforms like Magic: The Gathering Arena, you're likely to encounter these cards often. Five of the six cards revealed here are Rares, making them less common pulls. However, Thrum of the Vestige is an Uncommon. This card is a reskin of Magic's ubiquitous Lightning Bolt, and this particular printing could significantly influence the set's dynamics.
The Warrior of Light version of Jodah, the Unifier is also sure to be a hit. Jodah is a powerful and popular Commander, and this card features Amano's art from the original Japanese Final Fantasy box. Similarly, Amano's iconic artwork for Final Fantasy IV's Cecil Harvey has been adapted for Tymna the Weaver, one of Magic's strongest partner commanders, which has only been reprinted once before.
These cards launch physically with the full Final Fantasy set on June 13. Digital versions go live on MTG Arena and MTGO on June 10. Even if you're a Final Fantasy fan not yet into Magic, there's something to anticipate: FF7 Remake series director Tetsuya Nomura hinted that the design of Sephiroth on one card has been altered for a cryptic reason.
