Call of Duty: Warzone Players Face Lobby Crashes

Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still in development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.

Warzone's recent troubles highlight a challenging year for developer Raven Software. Following a December 2024 server outage and ongoing issues with cheating and bugs, this latest loading screen glitch added to player frustrations. Reports of freezes and crashes began surfacing on January 6th, prompting an investigation.

Although the underlying bug remains unfixed (as of January 9th, according to their Trello board), Raven Software has temporarily suspended Skill Rating penalties and timeouts for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. This addresses player concerns over unjust penalties caused by the glitch. Penalties for mid-match disconnections will remain in effect.

This temporary fix offers some relief, but the persistent bugs—even after a major January 2025 update—continue to impact the player experience, particularly in Ranked play. Raven Software is actively working on resolving these issues.
