In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, much like its predecessors, you'll engage in thrilling combat across ancient China alongside various warlords. However, a crucial decision awaits: choosing a faction to align with. This guide explains the faction selection process.
Understanding Factions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
The game unfolds in chapters. Initially, your character, the Wanderer, remains unaligned, assisting Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei in battles like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate.
Chapter 3 presents the pivotal choice: selecting a faction. Before this point, you'll have opportunities to interact with each faction.
To progress, you must complete specific missions for each faction: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Completing these unlocks a mission forcing you to choose an alliance. Only factions with completed missions will be selectable. You can complete all missions before committing to a faction.
Your decision is permanent. The unchosen faction becomes inaccessible for the remainder of the game; you can no longer accept side quests from their officers, hindering your bond and potentially increasing difficulty. For example, aligning with Liu Bei, who initially has fewer officers, limits skill point acquisition opportunities from side quests.
Each faction offers unique missions. To experience all content, create a save before choosing a faction and reload to explore other alliances.
Faction selection in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a strategic decision impacting gameplay and available content. The game is available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
