A New Game Is Definitely Coming

The extraordinary success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has transformed the trajectory of developer Sandfall Interactive, unlocking new possibilities for the French studio, including the exciting prospect of a brand-new game. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz on May 27, Sandfall Interactive COO and Producer François Meurisse shared insights into what’s next following the release of the Belle Époque turn-based RPG.

"There will be another video game, for sure," Meurisse confirmed. While details remain under wraps, the team is already energized by the creative potential. He added, "I can't wait to dive deeper into the concepts we’ve already started developing for the next title."

Meurisse emphasized that the team has grown significantly through the development of Expedition 33. "Many were early-career when we began. We’ve learned to collaborate, innovate, and build together. I’m excited to start the next project because we’re stronger and more experienced now than we were five years ago when we first launched. The bar is higher, and that makes it even more rewarding. I can confidently say that we—and Guillaume in particular—have some truly exciting ideas for what comes next."

It’s still unknown whether the upcoming title will be a direct sequel to Expedition 33 or a completely new intellectual property. However, fans are also hopeful for a potential DLC, after Lead Writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen recently expressed openness to the idea during a recent social media update.

3.3 Million Copies Sold in Just 33 Days

Meanwhile, Expedition 33 continues to break records, and this milestone stands out as a historic achievement. On May 27, Sandfall Interactive announced on Twitter (X) that the game has sold 3.3 million copies within its first 33 days on sale.

The message read, "Seriously. As of today. We couldn’t make that up. Another unforgettable moment made possible by your incredible support. Thank you all."

This achievement reflects the game’s sustained momentum and overwhelming player reception—making every success feel even more extraordinary.
