Clash Royale heads back to the past with new (yet old) Retro Royale mode

by Ellie Mar 28,2025

Supercell is taking fans of Clash Royale on a nostalgic journey back to 2017 with the introduction of the new Retro Royale Mode. This exciting update, available from March 12th to the 26th, brings back the game's launch meta and cards, offering players a chance to relive the early days of the game while competing for exclusive rewards.

In Retro Royale Mode, players will have access to a limited pool of 80 cards as they climb the Retro Ladder. The challenge is to ascend the 30-step ladder, with each step offering Gold and Season Tokens as rewards. As you progress, the competition intensifies, especially once you reach the Competitive League. Here, your starting rank will be determined by your progress on the Tropy Road, and your performance in Retro Royale will be key to climbing the leaderboard and showcasing your skills.

It's interesting to note that while Supercell has been focused on keeping their games fresh, the introduction of a retro mode highlights the balance between nostalgia and innovation. The Retro Royale Mode not only brings back fond memories but also offers enticing rewards, making it a must-try for fans. Additionally, participants who compete in both the Retro Ladder and the Competitive League at least once will earn a special badge for each, adding to the allure of this limited-time event.
