In *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, The Tournament is not just a thrilling experience but also a significant source of XP and a chance to earn the "Test Your Might" trophy. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to unlock, find, and conquer The Tournament in *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*.

To embark on The Tournament quest, you need to meet Gyoji, a resident of Yamato. After you've taken down several members of The Shinbakufu, Gyoji will be waiting outside your hideout, eager to discuss the tournament. This clandestine fighting arena is situated at the Ominesanji Temple in Southeastern Yamato. For easy access, synchronize with the Ominesanji Overlook viewpoint to the west of the area, which will serve as a fast travel point. This is highly recommended for quick returns and character switches if needed.

Once at the Ominesanji Temple, speak with Gyoji again. He'll brief you on the upcoming challenge: four one-on-one duels followed by a showdown with the ultimate champion. After the briefing, ring the bell to kick off the first fight.

How to Complete The Tournament in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The Tournament is a series of intense, life-or-death battles. Fortunately, you can take breaks between fights, using the bell to start each subsequent match. Use this time to heal with rations and consider upgrading or swapping out your weapons and armor to suit the upcoming challenge.

To triumph over each opponent, equip Yasuke with a long katana and master the art of dodging and parrying to exploit their vulnerabilities. Utilize abilities like Power Dash and Payback when you have sufficient adrenaline. Understanding the weapons your opponents wield can give you a strategic edge:

  • Lady Masago wields a Naginata.
  • Lord Suguru uses a Katana.
  • Lord Hokuto fights with a Kanabo.
  • Lady O-Sen employs two Poison Katana and uses ranged attacks.
  • Lord Unkai, equipped with a Naginata, can heal if you maintain distance for too long.

After defeating the final champion, speak with Gyoji once more on the hill. He'll express gratitude for his freedom and mention future tournaments. At this point, the "Test Your Might" trophy should unlock.

For The Tournament, the Long Katana is your weapon of choice. Opt for the highest rarity available and upgrade it to its maximum potential at your hideout's blacksmith. Engravings that boost Armor Damage or Armor Piercing can be particularly beneficial. Your armor selection is crucial, not only for increased health but also for combat-altering engravings.

Before entering The Tournament, ensure you've unlocked the Samurai Daimyo Armor of Legend by defeating The Ox, a Shinbakufu member. Also, acquire the Protector’s Armor by completing a Castle mission. The former provides a 75% damage increase at the cost of reducing your health to 25%, while the latter enables you to parry unblockable attacks. Combining these engravings can make you a formidable force, capable of defeating tournament foes in under a minute with effective parrying.

Invest your Mastery points in the Long Katana and Samurai skill trees. Prioritize maxing out Combat Expert to enhance your melee damage, and unlock Power Dash and Payback for an edge in combat.

*Assassin’s Creed Shadows* is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, launching on March 20th.
