Crysis 4 Development on Hold Amid Reports of Funding Issues

Crytek Announces Restructuring, Layoffs, and Crysis Game Delay

Crytek has announced a restructuring plan involving staff reductions and a delay to the next Crysis game. The company, facing financial difficulties, has laid off approximately 60 employees, representing about 15% of its 400-person workforce.

This restructuring also resulted in the temporary suspension of development on the next Crysis title, a decision made in Q3 2024. Crytek explored reassigning affected staff to other projects, including Hunt: Showdown 1896 and the upcoming Crysis game, but ultimately determined this wasn't feasible despite cost-cutting measures.

The studio will now focus its resources on expanding Hunt: Showdown 1896 content. The new Crysis game's release has been postponed indefinitely. Crytek assures affected employees will receive appropriate severance packages and career support.

While acknowledging these challenges, Crytek remains positive about its future, emphasizing continued development of Hunt: Showdown 1896 and its CRYENGINE technology.
