Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss Announced by Creators of The Council

Big Bad Wolf, the studio behind acclaimed titles like Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong and The Council, has unveiled its latest project: Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss. The announcement included a stunning CG trailer introducing Noah, the protagonist battling encroaching madness, the submerged city of R'lyeh, and the infamous Great Old One, Cthulhu himself.

The year is 2053. Deep-sea mining corporations unwittingly awaken a cosmic horror of unimaginable power. Players assume the role of Noah, an agent with Interpol's secretive Occult Affairs division, investigating the mysterious disappearance of miners in the Pacific. Aided by Key, his AI companion, players will explore the secrets of the sunken city of R'lyeh, solve challenging puzzles, and fight to preserve their sanity amidst Cthulhu's insidious influence.

Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game promises surreal, reality-bending environments creating a truly immersive and haunting atmosphere. The recently released trailer hints at a tense and thrilling adventure. Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss is slated for release in 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Separately, Frogwares showcased gameplay footage for The Sinking City 2, another Lovecraftian-inspired title.
