Owlcat Games Reveals Dark Heresy RPG Project

by Alexander Mar 05,2026

Owlcat Games has unveiled Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, its next cRPG following the acclaimed Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader.

During the Warhammer Skulls 2025 showcase, the studio revealed that Dark Heresy allows players to step into the role of an Inquisitor, one of the Imperium's most zealous enforcers dedicated to rooting out heresy. Here is the official description:

Enter the shadows as an acolyte of the Inquisition in Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, a new narrative-driven tactical RPG set in the beloved grimdark universe. Against the backdrop of the Noctis Aeterna and the enigma of the Tyrant Star, you will lead a warband of distinct companions in a desperate struggle against heresy and corruption – from loyal Imperial citizens like a veteran Guardsman from the death world of Catachan, to sinister xenos such as a bird-like Kroot mercenary.
Featuring complex investigations, a turn-based combat system, and decisions with profound consequences, Dark Heresy promises an atmospheric journey into the brutality and mystique of one of the Imperium's most feared institutions. Building upon the foundations of Rogue Trader, the game will also include fully voiced dialogue.

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy is scheduled for release on PC (via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. A specific launch window has not yet been announced.

Lex Imperialis immerses players in the unyielding world of Imperial Law. This new 15-hour storyline introduces the Adeptus Arbites, a faction of unwavering enforcers, and a new companion – the stern and relentless Solomorne Anthar. Accompanied by battle Familiars like cybernetic eagles and cyber-mastiffs, this expansion enriches Rogue Trader's gameplay and narrative depth. It will be available to all players starting June 24, 2025.
