The open-world vampire RPG, *The Blood of Dawnwalker*, developed by ex-CD Projekt Red (CDPR) developers at Rebel Wolves, is aiming to match the quality of *The Witcher 3* but in a more compact package. Dive into the details of this highly anticipated game and hear directly from the directors about their ambitious goals.
The Blood Of Dawnwalker Aims For AAA Quality
30-40 Hour Main Campaign
In an interview with Games Radar, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, the creative director of *The Blood of Dawnwalker*, emphasized that despite being a smaller studio launching their debut game, the team is committed to delivering a quality experience comparable to CDPR's *The Witcher 3*. When discussing the distinction between indie and AAA titles, Tomaszkiewicz confidently placed their game in the AAA quality bracket, citing their background with CDPR.
Rebel Wolves, though a new studio, is staffed by seasoned developers from CDPR, including those who worked on *The Witcher 3* and *Cyberpunk 2077*. Founders Mateusz and Konrad Tomaszkiewicz established Rebel Wolves to enjoy greater creative freedom, unbound by the limitations often encountered at larger AAA studios like CDPR.
Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz elaborated on the game's scope, stating, "Our game isn't as vast in content or hours as some AAA titles - being a smaller studio, this is our first project, so we're creating something more compact. However, our aim is to match the robustness in quality, albeit with a shorter duration." He noted that *The Blood of Dawnwalker* will feature a 30-40 hour main campaign, which, while not as lengthy as some AAA games, still aims for top-tier quality. He added, "If size is your measure, then yes, it's not the size of a AAA like *The Witcher*. But I don't think size should be the only measure, considering AAA titles like *Call of Duty* don't necessarily offer 100+ hour campaigns yet are still classified as AAA."
Set in the mystical land of Vale Sangora, *The Blood of Dawnwalker* is a narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy RPG where players assume the role of Coen, a young peasant transformed into a vampire. Coen's journey is fueled by the urgent need to save his ailing sister, navigating through the treacherous and hostile environment of the dark land.
While no specific release date has been announced, *The Blood of Dawnwalker* is expected to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Fans can look forward to a gameplay reveal in Summer 2025.
