A free demo for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth's spin-off, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, launches today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
RGG Studio made the announcement on X/Twitter, stating the demo will be available for download at 7am Pacific / 10am Eastern / 3pm UK time. The full game releases February 21st, also on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but these platforms will not receive the demo.
While RGG Studio hasn't confirmed save data transfer from the demo to the full game, the demo's content suggests this isn't possible. The demo offers access to later game areas, bypassing the natural story progression.
Players can explore portions of Honolulu and Madlantis, locations unavailable early in the main game. The demo also features:
- Mad Dog and Sea Dog fighting styles.
- Battles against powerful bounty enemies.
- Four ship and deck battles in the Pirates' Coliseum.
- New customization options.
- Karaoke with three selectable songs.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a sequel to Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the eighth mainline entry in the Yakuza / Like a Dragon series (ninth including Yakuza 0). It follows an amnesiac Goro Majima, who becomes a pirate and explores Hawaii.
An October Xbox Partner Showcase trailer showcased ship combat reminiscent of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag and the return of Taiga Saejima, hinting at stronger ties to the main series.
The game's story is estimated to take 15-18 hours to complete, significantly longer than Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. Players can unlock a Kiryu Kazuma costume by subscribing to email notifications or a Sega rewards program.
