EA Sports FC 25 has had a gameplay overhaul

EA Sports FC 25 has faced significant criticism, extending beyond monetization concerns to encompass its technical performance. This backlash prompted developers to release a "Gameplay Refresh Update" featuring over 50 changes to game mechanics. These improvements target core gameplay systems, including assists, shots, goalkeeping, and defending. Specific adjustments include addressing overly frequent defender catches of the ball carrier, smoother attacking ball movement, reduced AI reverse tackles and interceptions, decreased crossing pass effectiveness, quicker support from players in familiar roles, improved AI offside detection, and slightly increased shot accuracy for long-range shots under simple conditions.

The game's initial reception was overwhelmingly negative, with only 36% positive player reviews out of 474 on release. This negative sentiment stemmed from perceived corporate greed, numerous bugs and crashes, and difficulties with PlayStation controller recognition. Furthermore, EA Sports FC 25's anti-cheat measures render it incompatible with the Steam Deck.
